voxengo-boogex-v2

Another Freebie for you and you don’t want to miss this one. That great company Voxengo have released and updated Boogex Version 2.0 VST/AU guitar amp free plugin. It has loads more new features and an improved amp algorithm and a completely overhauled GUI.

This sound shaping plugin now has a similar interface to other Voxengo releases and has things like undo and redo history and a preset manager. You get low enough latency (close to zero) to be used as a realtime processor, and you can apply any cabinet impulse response you like (a selection comes included). You can get nice heavy distorted sounds but also slight “jazzy” saturation sounds. It also includes a reverberation module derived from its own OldSkoolVerb reverb. You could also use it as a saturator for your drum sounds.

The installation of Boogex is very straightforward, just copy the “dll” into your VstPlugins folder. You can download Boogex for free from the Voxengo website (7.0 MB download size). It’s available in 32/64-bit VST/VST3/AU plugin formats for PC and Mac.

Native Instruments Free Plugin Replika

native-instruments-replika

It is nice to receive a free gift especially at this time of year and from a great company call Native Instruments. This freebie is a streamlined delay effect with two delay modes and a powerful diffusion algorithm. Native Instruments tell us that it is very easy to use – that’s a good start and it has a resonant filter and classic phaser built in – sounding good to me already. You need to download it before the end of the year to get it free because in the new year it will cost you the usual 44 Euros.

REPLIKA gives you three distinct delay algorithms. ‘Modern’ to give you that crystal clear digital delay. ‘Vintage’ with the John Wayne Grit that you used to find in old Studios. Lastly is ‘Diffusion’ which is lost somewhere between a delay and a reverb. You can even adjust your signal’s placement in the mix with normal, wide, and ping pong stereo modes.

Native Instruments inform us that Replika requires graphics hardware support for OpenGL 2.1 – if you see any issues on your computer, please download and install the latest drivers for your GPU. This can be necessary even if Windows reports them as up to date.

Here is a great review from Saintjoe – he always does an excellent job:-

izotope-ozone-6
I did not expect to hear about this yet, I am still getting to grips with Ozone 5 from Izotope.

Unfortunately there is an upgrade price. For the basic upgrade from any previous versions of Ozone to upgrage to Ozone 6 costs $99. Its hard to say at this stage what you are going to get for your $99. Izotope state this which does not tell you much:-

“Ozone 6, the latest version of iZotope’s complete mastering system, has a workflow centered around creativity: A redesigned, modern interface guides and inspires users of all experience levels at every step, so you can freely experiment with ease”.

I was more interested in this statement from them: “Reinvent timeless sounds by harnessing the sonic texture of classic analog gear, then tweak with the surgical precision of digital software. An intuitive display and robust visual feedback let you dial in your signature sound in just a few clicks”.

This is a “Coming Soon” clip to get you interested:-

native-instruments-komplete-10

Native Instruments do not stand still, we now have two new large packages to tempt us – Komplete 10 and Komplete Ultimate 10. If you are an existing user of Komplete 9, what do you get for your £155 upgrade to 10? Is it worth upgrading?

Well the new products that have been added to version 9 to form version 10 are three new instruments – ROUNDS, KONTOUR and POLYPLEX, and three new pianos that has been named THE DEFINITIVE PIANO COLLECTION. Komplete 10 contains a total of 39 products and over 12,000 sounds while the massive Komplete 10 Ultimate, which offers 75 products and over 17,000 sounds, You should be able to get your hands on either of them from 1 October 2014.

Whilst you may feel that these are expensive, you are looking at a saving of approx 90% over the cost of purchasing the instruments and effects separately.

ROUNDS gives you powerful sound design possibilities coupled with a very advanced sequencer so that you can not only play melodies, chords, and arpeggios but you can morph sounds in real time.

KONTOUR is a new synth that Native Instruments say that it is capable of organic textures from mallets to plucked and bowed strings to distorted, aggressive and noisy sounds.

My Favourite is POLYPLEX which gives you a great way to design your own drum kits. Native Instruments advertise this as “An eight-part drum sampler with extraordinary randomizing capabilities, creative layering, and near-infinite tweakability”. Sounds great to me!

THE DEFINITIVE PIANO COLLECTION gives you three high-definition sampled pianos called THE GENTLEMAN (an upright piano from 1908), THE GRANDEUR ( a bright concert grand piano),and THE MAVERICK (a 1905 concert grand).

Check this out.

waves-vitamin-vst-plugin

Waves has just released the new Vitamin plugin which is a multiband harmonic enhancer and tone-shaping plugin. They tell us that it will make your tracks or mix sound powerful and full of spark. This is done apparently by Vitamin mixing an enriched version with the original signal.

I thought I would give this a try as it was half-price at present and you could get a further 10% discount from one of their discount codes. The price will go up to $199 soon.
